Canon's newest mirrorless camera, the EOS M50, is their first to feature 4K video. With touchscreen, smartphone-like rear controls and a compact, streamlined body, the M50 is perfect for those getting into photography that want something familiar while having some room to grow their skills.

4K isn't the only new feature from Canon. At the heart of the M50 is an all new 24.1MP APS-C CMOS sensor and new DIGIC 8 Image Processor. The M50 will shoot up to 7.4 fps (continuous autofocus) or 10fps (focus locked). Other capabilities include the aforementioned 4K video mode, a vari-angle LCD touchscreen, 120p high frame rate video in 720p, and a built-in OLED electronic viewfinder.

On top of the EVF is a flash hot shoe as well as a pop-up flash. The M50 has fewer dials and buttons compared to the M5 and M6 so many functions are controlled using the rear 3.0-inch vari-angle touchscreen LCD, another first for a Canon mirrorless camera that should make this camera a hit with vloggers. The touchscreen also works as a Touch and Drag Autofocus interface when using the OLED electronic viewfinder.

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi keep the M50 connected with your smartphone or tablet. With compatible versions of iOS or Android and the free Canon Camera Connect app, the M50 can automatically transfer images to your phone while you're shooting.

It's also notable that the M50 is the first Canon camera to use their new CR3 14-bit RAW file format and C-RAW format, which makes smaller sized RAW files.

The Canon EOS M50 comes as a kit with the EF-M 15-45mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM lens at an MSRP of $1,099.00 and is expected to arrive in April 2018.
