Canon updated their Rebel, mid-range and mirrorless lineups today with the respective announcements of the EOS Rebel T7i, EOS 77D and EOS M6. All three share a 24.2-megapixel CMOS APS-C sensor, DIGIC 7 Image Processor, Canon's Dual Pixel CMOS AF with Phase-detection, and built-in Wi-Fi/NFC/Bluetooth.
The EOS 77D represents Canon's next step up from the EOS Rebel lineup, although it's aimed as a successor to the EOS T6s. It has many of the advanced features found in the 80D such as a RBG+IR Metering Sensor but in a slightly lighter weight body. There's also some additional usability features such as a top plate LCD showing the camera's settings and a rear control dial.
Other features are shared with the T7i such as the 3.0″ touchscreen and continuous shooting up to 6.0fps.
Along with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and DIGIC 7, also making it's first appearance in the Rebel lineup is Canon's 45-point all cross-type AF system. The EOS Rebel T7i is designed to be easy to use for entry-level photographers but also offer enough manual control for those that want to move past P mode.
Other features include a native ISO range of 100-25600, a 3.0″ Vari-angle touchscreen LCD, continuous shooting up to 6.0fps, and a number of creative filters for both photos and video.
Despite being a larger number, the EOS M6 is actually a replacement for the older M3 rather than Canon's flagship mirrorless camera, the EOS M5.
Many of the specs are the same, such as the 24.2-megapixel CMOS APS-C sensor, DIGIC 7 and Dual Pixel CMOS AF with the biggest difference being the lack of built-in electronic viewfinder in the EOS M6.
For those that don't want to use the rear 3.0″ touchscreen LCD, Canon offers the optional 2.36m dot EVF-DC2.
The EOS Rebel T7i and EOS 77D are expected to arrive at the end of March or beginning of April.
The EOS Rebel T7i is available body only (MSRP: $949.99), with the new 18-55mm F4-5.6 IS STM ($1,149.99) or the 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS STM ($1,399.99).
The EOS 77D is available body only (MSRP: $1,149.99) or with the 18-135 F3.5-5.6 IS STM ($1,649.99).
The EOS M6 is expected to be available in late April with the EF-M 15-45mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM ($1,149.00) or the EF-M 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM lens ($1,449.00). The EVF-DC2 will also be available in April at an MSRP of $329.99.
