We’ve got some in-depth reviews and hands-on coming soon with some products that just arrived at the office, such as the Panasonic GF7, Olympus E-M5 II and the Canon 11-24 F4L. We’ll be taking them out for a spin at events around Vancouver next week so stay tuned to our blog and YouTube channel for more updates!
And here’s some news tidbits that didn’t quite make it to their own post this week:
- Leica announces a new firmware version (1.310) for the Leica T system. The firmware fixes several bugs, such as lens errors or WLAN connection problems.
- Leica also announces that the Summilux-M 50mm F1.4 ASPH and Summicron-M 35mm F2 ASPH are now available in black chrome finish.
- Sony has a software update for five of their FE lenses: SEL 24-70mm F4, SEL 55mm F1.8, SEL 35mm F2.8, SEL 70-200mm F4G and SEL 28-70mm F3.5-5.6. The FE Lens Software V0.02 enables the quick start function for faster camera startup when attached to an applicable E-mount body. All E-mount lenses released after 2014, such as the SEL 16-35mm F4 and 28-135mm F4, will already have this function available. (Not available for NEX-3, NEX-5, NEX-C3, NEX-VG10 or PXW-FS7).
- Novo, a new filter company, announced this week that they’re planning to make filters from Gorilla Glass and sapphire crystal like the front of your mobile phone. Those of you wondering how the synthetic “glass” will hold up optically only have to look as far as the iPhone, which uses a sapphire crystal for the camera lens.
