Sigma continues to go where no lens has gone before with the 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM Art. This is their second zoom lens with a constant F1.8 aperture designed for APS-C sensor cameras. After the success of their unprecedented 18-35mm F1.8 Art (as well as the equally unique 24-35mm F2), Sigma goes after the standard portrait range. With a 35mm full-frame equivalent of 75-150mm, the 50-100 covers the popular 85mm, 105mm, and 135mm focal lengths with a single lens. Like with the 24-35mm, although the 50-100 will have a larger footprint than any of the 85, 105 or 135mm lenses on their own, it provides the same large aperture and the flexibility of having all three lenses without having to actually carry three lenses.

Sigma is also unveiling a newly designed Hyper Sonic Motor with the 50-100 they claim is just as fast and accurate as the previous generation but 30% smaller.

The 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM Art is scheduled to arrive in April 2016 for Canon and Nikon mounts with an MSRP of $1,549.95.

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen a DN mirrorless lens from Sigma since they updated the appearance of the existing 19mm, 30mm and 60mm F2.8 lenses a few years ago. The new 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary is a significant upgrade over the previous generation, featuring a F1.4 aperture rather than a F2.8. Sigma is aiming for high performance but also great value with the new 30mm:

The 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary will be available for Sony E-mount and Micro Four Thirds in April with an MSRP of $459.95.

But Sigma wasn’t done! Their new MC-11 Mount Converter will let you take any Sigma EF-mount class and convert it to fit both Sony E-mount and FE-mount camera bodies. While this is already possible through third-party adapters, the MC-11 allows for full autofocus capabilities as well as getting Sigma’s in-lens stabilization to work with Sony’s in-body image stabilization.

So far, Sigma lists 16 lenses the MC-11 will work with: 10 full-frame lenses and 6 for APS-C. You can read the full press release here.
