The Leica Vario-Elmar-S 30–90mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH combines a universally versatile range of focal lengths with compact construction and low weight. It delivers high imaging performance throughout the entire focusing range to ensure flexible and fatigue-free photography, making it ideal for longer sessions.
The optical design comprises 14 elements in four groups. Nine elements are made from glasses with anomalous partial dispersion. Three low-dispersion fluoride elements correct chromatic aberrations. Three lenses with aspherical surfaces maintain consistent imaging performance at shorter distances and contribute to the minimisation of distortion.
