Harness the entire view of expansive full frame lenses, and capture over 50% more image area than crop-sensor cameras. Z 5’s 24.3 MP full frame CMOS sensor produces intensively detailed images, lifelike 4K UHD video, ultra shallow depth-of-field and particularly clean low-light shots.

In can’t miss moments—like weddings, speeches or performances—turn on Silent Mode and capture photo after photo without drawing any attention. This is also great for photographing pets and wildlife. Great portraits put focus on the eyes. Z 5’s powerful Eye-Detection Autofocus quickly finds your subject’s eyes—humans, cats and dogs alike—and puts them in sharp focus. It even follows them as they move behind objects in the frame.

Z 5’s sensor is practically covered in focus points—273 of them, to be precise. That means wherever your subject is within the frame, there’s almost certainly a focus point locked on them. Z 5 includes dual UHS-II SD card slots. Use them together for overflow storage, automatic back up or separating file types like RAW and JPEG or stills and videos.

See your shot clearly through Z 5’s outstanding electronic viewfinder. It activates when you put your eye to it, offering a high-resolution glare-free view of how your shot will actually look—exposure, ISO, white balance and Picture Controls are all visible in realtime.

Add another element of uniqueness and artistry to your photos and videos with 20 Creative Picture Controls, all visible in real time while you shoot, either through the viewfinder or on the tilting touchscreen display. Combine multiple photos into one radical creation. This can be done in real time by composing and combining consecutive shots, or it can be done later by previewing and combining shots you already took.

Focus Shift Shooting Mode automatically takes a series of images (up to 300) while advancing the focus position in each shot. These images can then be stacked* into a single image with surreal depth of field—great for shooting jewelry, products, landscapes and still subjects. (*Requires third-party image-stacking software sold separately).

Connect to Z 5 from the SnapBridge app once, and your phone and camera are bonded for life. You can transfer photos manually, or set the app to automatically import every shot you take. Z 5 makes it easy to create beautiful timelapse movies. Set up Z 5 on a tripod or stable surface, compose your shot, set your time interval and number of shots and let the camera do the rest. You can simultaneously create your timelapse movie in-camera and save the full resolution stills. And for longer shoots, power Z 5 with the optional USB Type C cable (UC-E25) and any compatible power bank.

Z 5 is weather sealed against dust, dirt and moisture, especially around all moving parts and buttons. This is a camera designed to be used wherever your inspiration takes you. Z 5 is compatible with the optional MB-N10 multi-battery power pack for up to 1.8X (CIPA standard) more shooting time than using just the camera’s battery. It’s designed with the same extensive weather sealing as Z 5 and is a balanced, comfortable addition. You can even hot swap batteries mid-shooting without losing power. Provide constant power to Z 5 when recording video or shooting timelapse sequences, connect to a computer and even charge your battery with the optional USB Type C cable (UC-E25).
