Canon’s latest mirrorless camera, the EOS M3, has been available in Asia and Europe for months and now it’s finally hitting the North American market in October. This time around, it looks like Canon is taking the M line higher end as the M3 looks like it’s improved on build and specs in comparison to its predecessors.
The 3rd version of the EOS M features a new Canon 24.2MP APS-C sensor, probably the same one found in the T6i and T6s, as well as a 3rd revision of Hybrid CMOS AF that’s supposed to improve autofocus time dramatically. There are also minor improvements to burst mode, DIGIC 6 and an additional dial up top.
The biggest difference is probably the way it looks and handles. The first two EOS M cameras had more in common with Canon’s point-and-shoots than their DSLRs but the smooth black surfaces are now replaced with bigger, textured grips on the right side and back.

Photographers familiar with other Canon EOS cameras will note the EOS M3’s interface is similar to Canon’s current EOS DSLR cameras, making operation easier for existing users. Canon’s EOS M3 Digital Camera is scheduled to be available in early October 2015 for an estimated retail price of $849.99. An EOS M3 EF-M 18-55mm IS STM lens kit will be available in the customer’s choice of black or white for an estimated retail price of $999.99.
