Fujifilm Announces X-A3 24.3MP Mirrorless Camera and 23mm F2 R WR

Fujifilm’s non-X-Trans mirrorless line got an update today in the X-A3, which now has a 24.3MP APS-C sensor. Unlike the rest of Fujifilm’s mirrorless, the sensor in the X-A3 (like the X-A2 before it) is in a more conventional Bayer colour filter array rather than a version of X-Trans.

The 3.0″ LCD on the rear of the camera still flips up 180 degrees for easy selfie framing but the screen is now a touchscreen that lets you zoom, focus and activate the shutter like on a smartphone.

Speaking of smartphones, the X-A3 has Wi-Fi for connecting your smartphone or tablet.

Available in black/silver as well as brown and pink, the X-A3 is expected to arrive at the end of September for $749.99.

Fujifilm also announced a new X-mount lens with the new, compact and weather-resistant XF 23mm F2 R WR. It sacrifices a stop of light over Fuji’s XF 23mm F1.4 R but gains some protection against the elements and a great deal of portability at half the size and weighing 40% less than it’s predecessor. The outer shell is all metal for a quality feel.

The 23mm F2 R WR is made up of 10 elements (two aspherical) in six groups for optimal sharpness while a stepping motor keeps focus quick and quiet.

The XF 23mm F2 R WR will also be available at the end of September at an MSRP of $549.99.
