Tamron Introduces World's First 18-400mm Lens

Posted by Broadway Camera on 2017-06-26

Tamron has made the superzoom more super with the world's first ultra-telephoto all-in-one zoom lens that covers a 18-400mm range. That's a 22.2x zoom ratio in one 700g lens.

The Tamron 18-400mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD (Model B028) (CanonNikon) has 16 elements in 11 groups, including LD Low Dispersion specialized glass elements and aspherical lens elements for reducing chromatic aberration and distortion. It also has a maximum macro magnification ratio of 1:2.9. The lens extends the front element but in it's most compact form, the 18-400 is only 121.4mm in length.

The lens is equipped with Tamron's VC Vibration Compensation, which compensates for around 2.5 stops, and a Tamron HLD (High/Low torque modulated Drive) motor that maintains speedy, accurate and quiet focusing.

The Tamron 18-400mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD (Model B028) is expected to be available in August with an MSRP of $949.99 for both Canon and Nikon, now available for pre-order.
