Convenient audio recording from wireless headphones
The receiver picks up audio from the microphone on connected compatible Sony wireless headphones*1 and records it in-camera. You can easily capture the speaker’s voice, making the receiver useful for vlogging, everyday video, and other situations requiring lightweight wireless audio capture. It also supports binaural recording with a three-dimensional feel.
PC and mobile connection*2
With the optional ECM-W5T Wireless Transmitter (sold sep), the receiver also connects easily to compatible smartphones and PCs*2, using the included USB Type-C® adaptor.
High-definition AMOLED interfaces
The receiver adopts a high-definition, high-contrast AMOLED display for the first time in the ECM-W series. Use your fingertips to intuitively select and change various menu settings. The Control wheel/button on the right of the screen also contributes to comfortable operation.
Timecode sync to streamline the editing process
The ECM-W5R now supports timecode sync*3. It outputs the timecode, and the same timecode information can be embedded into the camera footage. A USB connection to a compatible Sony camera*4 enables sync with the timecode recorded as metadata in the camera’s video. This lets you use the system as a timecode generator during multi-camera shoots.
Reliable for long recording sessions
The camera powers the receiver*3, eliminating concern about the battery running out during extended shoots.
